We spent Thursday touring the Acropolis and Ancient Agora(used as a market place, center of town). The weather was beautiful. The Acropolis is a large hill, where the Temples and Monuments stood. It is breathtaking!! We were amazed that these buildings were around before Christ. The workmanship in these building is amazing. Restoration work is going on at the Acropolis. The Greek are trying to "get back" articles from around the world that were formally part of the Acropolis. The Parthenon, is the largest monument/temple on the Acropolis. It main purpose was to house the statue of Parthenos. Atop the Acropolis, is also Erechtheion, the Propylaia, the Nike Temple,
Here I am with the Parthenon behind me.
After the Acropolis, we headed down to Ancient Agora. Here they have a nice museum of ancient artifacts. Also, there is one of the most preserved temples in ancient Agora.
Dave at the temple in Ancient Agora, the Temple.
It was a fabulous day
