Eating In Greece

Well, the Greek know how to eat. The food here is awesome. The only thing we have had to get used to, is how late they eat. Dinner for the Greeks doesn't begin until at least 9:00pm. and they are still going strong around midnight. On Thursday we had dinner with the one of the Dr.'s that Dave works closely with from Zurich. He was telling us the Greek way, is to stay up late, eat late, and get started late the next day. We have been "trying" this way of life, but I don't think we can take much more of eating so late. We still feel full at breakfast.
Most everything here is served with feta cheese. There are wonderful pastries, a lot made of phyllo dough, but they are not too sweet. The breads are also wonderful. "Greek Salad" is a mainstay at your meals, it consists of tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, red onions, olives, herbs, olive oil, and of course feta cheese.
I think one of our favorite thing we have found to eat is the "cheese pie"--Yummy!!! Feta cheese baked in phyllo dough--I could eat it almost everyday.
All over the city are outdoor cafes. The people stop, eat, and visit. There is no rush to it, they seem to enjoy a good meal and a good time.
